A crew of three was to retrieve the Solar Maximum Mission (MMS) satellite and bring it back to Earth during a five day mission.
Additional OMS (Orbital Maneuvering System) fuel was to be carried so that Columbia could reach the SMM's orbit.
The SMM was eventually retrieved and repaired in orbit by 41-C in 1984.
